Aubrey Falls is an excellent waterfall spot. But most people don't know that there are additional cascades located further upstream. To be fair, they aren't as good as the main falls, and to be cautious, they aren't easy to explore.
Upstream from the main falls, the river bends to the right and continues up to the water control dam. Remember, Aubrey Falls is actually comprised overflow that didn't get directed through the hydroelectric station. Beyond a large pond, a long, picturesque cascade section offers great photos.
Access is via a road or driveway leading south from Hwy 129. This is the next road east (or northeast) from the main entrance for the main falls. I've been told that one can drive all the way up to the dam, but can't cross it, and are warned to stay away from it. The main cascade section is about 300 m downstream. Visitors may be able to find a rough path from the road to the river. But this may not exist. NOTE: remember that dams can open at any time.
This waterfall is coded yellow because it is more difficult to reach and explore. There are no trails and it is not set up as tourist attraction. While it isn't too difficult to reach, it's not for everyone. Most people will be satisfied by the main falls.
NOTE: This waterfall can be turned off! Water is diverted for power generation. Visitors are warned that if they show up in late fall or late in the day, the flow may have been stopped. A schedule is available online in picture form, but may be out of date.
