An expansive site with lots of waterfalls of various shapes and sizes. None of them are very large on their own, but there is lots to see and explore. At lower flow in summer, lots of bare rock at the site is left high and dry. I haven't seen this in spring freshet, but imagine that the entire area could be swamped under whitewater.
Located in Lake Superior Provincial Park, the falls can be reached by the Orphan Lake Trail. This is a lengthy trail, which eventually reaches a stony beach on Lake Superior. The route to the falls takes about 90 mins, or a litte more, depending on hiking speed.
Everyone that posts about this falls and trail in our Facebook group raves about both of them. If it were closer to the highway, it would no doubt get more visitors.
This site is coded yellow because the trail is long. Access is coded difficult for this reason, although most intermediate level hikers would have no problem. Anyone that chooses to make this trip should plan appropriately.
