About Belleville Rapids
There are several very small cascades, rock rapids, and dam spillways along Moira River as it drops about 25 m in elevation through Belleville. Most can be found by driving along Cannifton Road. At this location shown, a very low cascade spreads across the 15 to 20 m wide Moira River, dropping no more than about 2 m. Much of the drop is no more than a rock rapids, although there is one rock notch towards the left bank (looking downstream) of the river that exhibits a true fall of a meter or two. Pleasant enough if you're in the area, but don't go out of your way.
