This gentle step waterfall is like a giant staircase. The rock exposure is almost 150 m wide and just as long! It is positioned immediately below a wide water level control dam that holds back Boulevard Lake.
At lower flows, water only flows along the eastern edge of the falls. The width increases with increased flow. Of note is a constructed fish ladder along this side. If you know of a local name, please email me!
This waterfall is featured in the 'Waterfalls of Ontario' book. Please pick up a copy to learn more. This helps to support this project.
You can see the falls head-on from the Cumberland St. bridge. On the east side of the bridge, a paved trail heads north along Grenville Ave. The trail will eventually veer away from the road and instead towards the dam. It allows close examination of the fish ladder, and also gives pedestrian access to the dam. The view from the dam is panroarmic, even if looking downstream.
