Unlike many of the tall plunge waterfalls in Hamilton, this one is much lower, and wider. There is a 100-200 m bedrock riverbed leading downstream from a dam at the Christie Lake Reservoir to the falls.
Just below the falls, the hulking remains of an old mill sit just downstream of the falls. You need to stay out of the mill ruins, of course, as they are unsafe. But there is still a lot to see. Interpretive signs describe the history of the site.
The one downside to this waterfall is that there is no parking at the site. You will be towed. A parking lot is available about 500 m to the east, on the south side of the road. Fortunately it's a very nice walk along a picturesque road. While the road isn't very busy, hikers should always be cautious hiking on the road.
