This is the smaller of the two Furnace Falls in Ontario. If you've been to the bigger one, you'll know that this one in Lyndhurst must be quite small! Most people would consider this to be a rapids.

Like many of the small 1-star waterfalls in eastern Ontario, Furnace Falls itself isn't much of a waterfall destination. But it can be an interesting waypoint as part of an afternoon road trip or tour of the RIdeau Lakes area.

A public greenspace on the west side of the river allows viewing, but a chain link fence prevents anyone from getting too close. On the east side of the river, it is my understanding that the greenspace beside the river is actually a private lawn.

Furnace Falls Park is located on the upstream side of the bridge, and while it offers parking and access to the river, you'd have to cross the road to see the rapids.

The stone bridge over the creek was built in 1857 and is believed to be the oldest intact bridge in Ontario. While not as dramatic as the 5-arch stone bridge at Pakenham, the bridge's 3 arches, built with local sandstone, will be of interest to bridge afficionados.
