Also known as Go-Mar Falls, this is tall, impressive waterfall that few know about. That included me, for a while! I've been told that you can park in a gravel area that leads off the side of the highway on the right. The driving coordinates lead to this short gravel drive on the right side. This is just north of the entrance to the Nipigon Power Plant.

A short trail runs south parallel to the highway before turning left (east) and following the hydro corridor that leads northeast. After about one kilometre, a side trail veers off to the right and to the base of this tall waterfall.

I believe that this is one of the tallest waterfalls in Ontario. It can be hard to see the top of the falls from the base, given the convex shape of the falls. Like nearby Cascade Falls, which is also very tall, this waterfall is fed by a very small watershed. This means that the best time to visit is during snowmelt, or immediately afterwards. I wouldn't expect to see much (if any!) flow here during summer.

This site is coded yellow because it requires hiking along an unmarked trail, in a relatively remote area. Most visitors that reach the falls will agree then that the route wasn't too challenging. But this is not a walk in the park.

Waterfalls of Ontario Project

This project has been online since 1999, in print since 2003, and on social since 2011. (See archives: 2003, 2012, 2018). It was the first to inventory and map Ontario's waterfalls for recreational purposes. With your continued help, it grows. Learn more...
