Facebook GroupCompared to Onaping High Falls, this cascade, about 3.5 km upstream on the Onaping River, certainly is low. But it can still be a nice spot to visit. The total elevation drop is only about 2 m. Unlike it's big brother downstream, you are likely to be the only visitor here.
Access is via a trail that starts on the north side of Hwy 144 at the end of the railway spur. The trail winds north through the Onaping River valley for about 1.6 km to the base of the falls (from the road, take the trail to the right, although both eventually merge later). For much of the route the trail follows a hydro corridor.
This site is coded yellow because it may be on private property. The Crown Land Atlas shows that it is not located on Crown Land or in a park. However, a well-established dirt trail leads north from Hwy 144, snaking between the river and the railway tracks.
I heard rumours that I guy drove his VW Golf down this trail, but I think that I'll pass! It is possible that the land is owned by big industry, and that access is tolerated. Please note that this web site does not give you permission to trespass.
