The falls here have been significantly modified and effectively serve only as a spillway. Some see this as another casualty of hydroelectric power generation. But it reminds us of how important waterfalls can be to society.
The dam stands high above the natural falls, raising the river head by perhaps 5-6 m. A large diameter penstock carries water from the reservoir to the power plant, located on the far side of the road.
Flows are minor to non-existant for much of the year because water is diverted through the hydroelectric plant. The plant generates 3 MW of power, using a total fall of 13 m.
This site is just a few minutes north of Hwy 118. It is not really much of a waterfall destination on its own, but it's certainly worth the short detour for a quick visit.
