About Merrickville Rapids

This is a medium-sized rapids in downtown Merrickville. You'll likely visit the town for its pleasant downtown strip and Historic Blockhouse. The rapids are just downstream of the bridge and can be reached from the north, behind the ruins of an old mill, or, from the south, from a narrow strip of land separates the rapids from the locks on the Rideau River. While there is bedrock exposed in the river bed, this is not much of a waterfall. Still, like many very small sites, it can still be a scenic place for a pit stop or to relax.
