Facebook GroupThis is a long cascade on sedimentary rock that is a cross between a slide and a washboard form. The upper portion of the falls is found upstream of Crowes Rd; the lower portion is downstream. As is seen in several other waterfalls in Eastern Ontario, the rock layers are eroded into concave, semi-circular shaped layers. The total elevation drop along this stretch of Black Creek is about 10 m.
Access to this waterfall is likely only for a roadside view. On the upstream (north) side of the bridge, you can view the upper portion of the cascade, which is facing towards you. It's not overly photogenic, and is encroached upon by a dilapidated fence and bush. The river is surrounded by private propety upstream from the bridge. A home sits within view and private property signs are visible.
On the downstream side of the bridge, the total fall is greater. However, since this is facing away from the road, you can't see as much. It is my understanding that land parcel is also private, although I didn't see any signs.
