Mill Falls is a set of two pretty plunge form waterfalls. Each waterfall is about 30 m wide, with the upper falls about 3-4 m in height and the lower a good 5 m high. A wooden footbridge leads over the top of the upper falls and leads to a trail around the pond and on to a staircase to the Ottawa Valley Rail Trail. This is an attractive site. The lower falls is not accessible to visitors.

Please be mindful of private property around the falls. The far bank of the river, and lands beyond the trail belong to a private residence. The lower waterfall is on the grounds of the Millfall Condominiums and is not accessible to visitors. Signage shows private property in both of these locations.

I believe that it is possible and legal to scramble to the edge of the river near the base of the falls. The Crown Land Atlas shows how the road allowance meets the crown land associated with the river bed. A fence prevents visitors from accessing lands owned by the mill.

After your visit, be sure to check out the Mississippi Valley Texttile Museum. It is located on Rosamond St, right next to the enormous former Rosamond Mill (now Millfall Condos). This offers a fascinating look at the industrial legacy of Almote, which was all powered by the falls!
