This is a tiny, but cute cascade first brought to my attention by the McPherson family. It's found along the Old Stone Road Trail, about 10 km west of Gravenhurst at 1578 Muldrew Lake Rd. This is a fun trail through the woods, with some wetland sections.
The falls is a very small narrow notch in an exposed hunk of massive (unfractured) bedrock. Even though this is very small and hardly spectacular, it shows the slow pace of erosion in the form of a narrow groove behind the jet of water. Erosion of the rocks of the Canadian Shield is much slower than it is in the softer rocks found on the Niagara Escarpment.
