Located just west of Algonquin Park, this waterfall is a big draw for tourists and day-trippers. It can be quite busy in summer, but can also be nearly deserted on dull, cool, or rainy days. The falls is a long, steep cascade that twists and turns during its 12-15 m descent.
From the parking area, a trail into the forest eventually veers to the right and climbs a hill. The 'classic' shot of the falls can be had here, although photographers will have to deal with a chain link safety fence. The trail continues upstream until it pops out at the top of the falls. The hike is only a few hundred metres but does have some modest hills.
This waterfall is featured in the 'Waterfalls of Ontario' book. Please pick up a copy to learn more. This helps to support this project.
