This set of low cascades is created by a barrier ridge that stretches up to 100 m wide across the French River Gorge. Only part is visible in the photo. Higher parts of the ridge essentially strain the river into several short channels. Neither is very high, nor very long. But the setting is very scenic.
The French River gorge is arguably the highlight of this hike. The well-worn trail to the falls is about 1.5 km long and takes under an hour to hike both ways.
This waterfall is featured in the 'Waterfalls of Ontario' book. Please pick up a copy to learn more. This helps to support this project.
