This is a low 'jagged' cascade with limited elevation drop. There isn't much of a falls, and the site should really rate one star. However, it is still worth a visit, as visitors have explored along the rock bed of the river during low flow, or, found a high vantage point along the bare rock on the west side. Alternatively, you can just take in the whole scene from above, via the walkway along the south side of the bridge.
Bedrock along the east side of the river is steeply titled, and forms a low wall that gives the site its jagged look. Rock knobs on the west side have been smoothed, probably by glaciation rather than river flow, and provide good vantage points of the river.
The rock is likely paragneiess, which is a heavily metamorphosed rock that once originated as a sedimentary rock, such as sandstone. This is the source of the layering. Folding that occurred many hundreds of millions of years ago is the cause for the tilt.
The falls (if you can call them that) are situated right below the Secord Rd bridge. There are a few spots to park in the slightly wider area on the east side. If you continue west and north along Secord Rd, the scenery is quite attractive. You will see that the rapids actually do start just before the bridge. See if you can spot the water level stage recorder.
