This is a low, wide step that stretches across the entire width of the St Jean Baptiste River. It is almost directly under the bridge for Harmans Rd. This makes it easy to find, and easy to explore, but difficult to photograph.
If you like bridges, you can find a nice way to incorporate the bridge into your shot. On sunny days, however, the bridge can cast harsh shadows on the river, making for difficult light conditions. You can see this problem in my photos. Another reason to choose overcast days!
Careful visitors have sat on the rock outrcrop under the bridge, just a few feet from the water's edge. As you are hidden under the bridge, you may have this secret spot for solitude all day, or at least until the next waterfaller comes along!
I was able to get down to the edge of the rocky river banks during low flow. The river bed is full of cobbles and small blocks that have been plucked off the waterfall and moved downstream over the years. On my visit, a number of Inukshuks had been constructed out of the blocks.
