Also referred to as Spruce Falls on some maps, this is a wild northern style cascade found about three kilometres north of Kapuskasing. Long, low, and blasting! Even though it has a low gradient, the river can rage through bare rock and make for interesting exploring and some neat tight photo angles.

Visitors must be sure to stay back from the edges, of course. A trail from the northern end of Hemlock St leads about 2.5 km to the falls.

Note that I used the term Spruce Falls to refer to the rapids found right in Kapuskasing. It's my understanding that this is the historic name for that site. Since it only has one name, and this falls has two, I chose to stick with Sturgeon Creek here. If you are local, can you let me know if I'm right or wrong?
