This is a place that I had been meaning to visit for years. It's just far enough off Hwy 11 to make you think twice about trying to find it if you are on a tight schedule. I was finally able to make time to visit and I'm glad that I did.

This is a unique spot. The falls aren't that big but they pass through a very scenic gorge. The boiling and frothing water downstream of the falls is just as interesting as the falls themselves. The gorge is quite deep and narrow for such a small river, making me sure that this was formed by some process other than river erosion.

The whole site has some tight spaces between rock walls. This made it both intimate and fun to wander around, but also tough to get that perfect photo of the falls and rapids downstream. Visitors must be cautious as there are high vertical cliffs, as well as some slanted rocks that are slippery when wet. This is the reason for the yellow star rating.

From Paisley Rd, turn right on to The Gorge Trail, and make a second right turn to continue on the Trail. This narrow road leads by some small wooded lots with trailers. There are 911 numbers out front, and I'm quite sure this is public. At coordinates 45.7960, -79.2690, an even narrower 'road' turns left and heads to a parking lot near the falls.

I was able to drive my SUV all the way the parking lot. While hidden from the parking area, the falls are easily heard. The last couple hundred metres of the drive might be too much for a low car. Another reason for using yellow caution stars. (It is my understanding that this is crown land, but I'm seeking confirmation. There are no signs indicating otherwise).
