This is a surprisingly large waterfall. It's worth seeking out, but it isn't a walk in the park to get there. Fortunately, I had Bryce Dube to guide me. The falls are long; stretching about 200 m before the river bends to the right and ends up in large pool.

During our visit, we only explored the area towards the top of the falls (you can see me in the yellow rain coat). A water level control dam is situated at the top of the falls, and was choked by logs on our visit.

There may be a trail downstream along the falls, but we couldn't find it. Water levels were very high and there was not space between the water's edge and the thick woods. There was also a lot of snow, even in early May. At low flow, with luck, visitors may be able to explore along the falls edge.

NOTE: This falls is coded yellow because it is remote and the road network can be dicey at times. This is one of the easier falls to reach in the Manitouwadge area; the road is likely better maintained to enable access to the hydro plant. The road takes you right to a small parking lot associated with the hydroelectric plant. From here, it is an easy two min walk to a platform overlooking the top of the falls.

Driving around to see the falls in the greater Manitouwadge area is not for everyone. Road conditions can be challenging and changing, and as I found out the hard way, winter takes a long time to leave this area. A car with regular ground clearanace would likely be able to make the journey. Any breakdowns, however, would result in a long walk back to the Caramat Rd, which is the only route on which you might expect to see just a couple of vehicles per hour.
