I'm not 100% sure that I have the name of this falls correct. For the larger falls upstream, I use the term McCutcheon's Falls. Other sources refer to these to falls as the "Low" and "High" Falls. We have enough 'High Falls', so we aren't going there!
This beautiful little trough falls is about 30 m from the road. It is perhaps 3 m high, and offers an excellent example of the trough form. It can be viewed from the roadside from a point downstream. The falls are seen in the distance beyond a pretty stretch of the river. At lower flows, bare rock platforms allow you to get close to the water.
About 500 m north from the intersection of Vankoughnet Rd and Lambert Rd, look for a wider patch of gravel on the east side of the road. A very short trail leads about 10-20 m east to the river. The trail ends at a rocky clearing beside the falls. A small rock peninsula allows photographers to set up downstream of the falls.
It is my understanding that the road allowance here merges with the crown land along the river. Note, however, that there is a private residence just upstream, and that lands bordering the river upstream of the waterfall are private. Please do not trespass.
