This waterfall is sometimes called Lower Silver Falls or Lower Mission Falls. It is just a few hundred metres downstream from Silver Falls (or Middle Mission Falls, depending on your choice!). The falls is wider than it is tall and offers differing experiences with changes in river flow. When I first visited in October, 2002, flows were so low that I walk out on the bare bedrock. In May, 2023, flows were so high I could barely get close!
The waterfall can be viewed from the bridge. Alternatively, some visitors prefer to follow a steep but manageable dirt trail from the road down to the base of the falls. This also leads to a rocky peninsula further downstream, which provides a great head-on view. Another option is to walk downstream from Wawa Creek Falls (see entry) and view Wawa Falls from across the bay.
This waterfall is featured in the 'Waterfalls of Ontario' book. Please pick up a copy to learn more. This helps to support this project. NOTE: There are no safety railings at this waterfall. Anyone that chooses to visit does so at their own risk.
