High Falls is a beautiful waterfall located far from human development. It is a long cascade that fans out from a narrow section at the top. Years ago, I hiked here with my 3P56 field course from Brock University. It took 2 hrs from the nearby Petroglyphs Provincial Park, but this trail is now closed. The falls are not actually in the park, but are in the Peterborough Game Reserve.
There is a long hike in from the road which takes about an hour. I've been told that the route can have some wet sections.
A canoe trip up the river saves time, as paddliers can zip right across the small bays and wetlands, instead of having to walk around them. It also lets them explore the west side of the river, from which better photos can be taken. If you hike, which lots of people do, be aware that there can be some wet areas along the way.
This site is coded yellow because it requires a long hike and may require visitors to cross a creek on foot.
