This interesting site is also known as Prince of Wales Falls. It is located right in the middle of suburban Ottawa and forms the centerpiece of a nice, but busy urban park. The site is arguably 3 stars, but I've given it 4 for interest and ease of access to city dwellers. I've been told that flows are normally higher while the Rideau Canal is closed.
You can view the falls from both banks as well as from the footbridge in front of Hogs Back Rd. Views from the far (west) side are better. As you move downstream, however, you will encountered a tilted layer of bare sandstone. The tilt is significant enough that visitors could slip fall if not careful. Fortunately, the rock tilts away from the river, and the fence keeps you out of the river altogether
This waterfall is featured in the 'Waterfalls of Ontario' book. Please pick up a copy to learn more. This helps to support this project. NOTE: There are no safety railings at this waterfall. Anyone that chooses to visit does so at their own risk.
